EnduroGP World Championship

EnduroGP (FIM Enduro World Championship) is the world championship for off-road endurance motorcycle racing organized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. It is the highest-level series in the sport of Enduro motorcycle racing.

Race History

The Enduro World Championship was established in 1990, evolving from the European Endurance Championship of the 1980s. Since 2015, it has used the EnduroGP brand name and gradually expanded into a global off-road endurance series.

Race Classes

EnduroGP includes several engine classes:

  • EnduroGP (premier class, combining all engine types)
  • Enduro 1 (250cc two-stroke and 464cc four-stroke)
  • Enduro 2 (290cc two-stroke and 350cc four-stroke)
  • Enduro 3 (500cc two-stroke and 650cc four-stroke)
  • Enduro Youth (youth class)

Race Format

EnduroGP events usually last 2 to 3 days and include three types of special tests: "Cross Test," "Enduro Test," and "Extreme Test." Riders must complete the prescribed number of laps within a set time, and time penalties are added to their overall result.

Major Venues

EnduroGP rounds are held across Europe, including Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Finland, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Some events take place in Finland's summer forests and Portugal's mountainous areas, offering varied and challenging terrain.

Notable Riders

Leading contemporary riders include Eero Remes of Finland, Hong Yan-bin of South Korea, Thomas He of Australia, and Jamie McCanney of the United Kingdom. Legendary riders include Petri Pohjola and Mika Ahola.

Motorcycle Technology

EnduroGP motorcycles must deliver off-road performance, with long-travel front and rear suspension, impact-resistant frames, and reinforced braking systems. The series allows tubeless tires and places certain limits on noise and emissions.

International Influence

EnduroGP is regarded as the flagship event of FIM off-road sport and also serves as a development ground for the Dakar Rally and the ISDE world endurance competition.
