MotoAmerica Championship
MotoAmerica is a professional motorcycle road racing championship founded with the involvement of a former MotoGP champion, the founder of the KTM Group, and other partners. Held in the United States since 2015, it is the successor to AMA Pro Road Racing.
Race Origins
MotoAmerica was founded in 2014 and officially began racing in 2015. Its founders included former world champion Wayne Lewis and the Kodiak Entertainmen group. The series took over professional road racing events previously run by Formula USA and AMA Pro Racing, aiming to create a racing brand better suited to modern audience expectations.
Race Classes
MotoAmerica includes several classes:
- Superbike (1000cc, premier class)
- Supersport (600cc)
- Stock 1000 (production-based modified class)
- Junior Cup (250cc entry-level class)
- Mission Mini Grand Prix (mini motorcycles)
Major Circuits
Season rounds are held across the United States, including WeatherTech Raceway in California, UMC in Utah, COTA in Texas, Road America in Wisconsin, and Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.
Notable Riders
Recent champions include Bobby Geankoplis in Supersport and Eziar G.da in Superbike. The 2023 Superbike champion was an important rider for NOVA. Young riders such as Cam Peterson have also performed well in the series.
Interaction with International Racing
MotoAmerica maintains cooperative relationships with MotoGP and WorldSBK, giving outstanding riders opportunities to be invited to international competitions. Since 2023, MotoAmerica champions have received a Mission King of the Ring reward, allowing them to test MotoGP-level racing motorcycles.
Broadcasting and Media
MotoAmerica has signed broadcast agreements with FOX Sports and NBC Sports, and races are also streamed online through MotoAmerica TV. Its social media strategy has helped the series gain attention among younger audiences.
